January 10, 2006 It's only a few days until MAGFest and we are in preparation for a great convention. I hope everyone comes and checks it out. In other news, we have made our purchase of Bawls for MAGFest. We got a little excited and ordered over a ton of Bawls (literally). It came to about 2275 pounds of everyone's favorite energy drink. Don't believe us? Click here and here for images. We ordered 75 cases of 24 bottles each and they will be on sale for $2.00 a bottle or $40.00 per case.

June 22, 2005Greetings from Fusion GC! We are busy at work preparing for Fusion GC 2006. A new hotel and new events are in the works. Our promotional campaign has already started with a recent visit to Anime Mid Atlantic. We ran a Halo 2 tournament and a Tekken 5 tournament at the convention. You may have also spotted us at Valley View Mall in Roanoke hosting a Madden tournament for EB Games. Stay tuned to the site to find out where we will be next! We always love to hang out and talk to Fusion attendees. So why is next year going to be so incredible you say? Well for starters new tournaments for next year such as Magical Drop 3 and Soul Calibur 3 will be added to the tournament list soon. Fusion GC featured guest Robert Aldrich has already confirmed his appearance at next year's event! More guests will be booked soon as well. And as always, Fusion's got a trick or two up its sleeve. You'll have to wait a little while to find out some of our master plans. One thing is sure though; next year's possibilities are endless. Stay tuned for details!
May 22, 2005FusionGC is over and we are all quite tired. However, it was very successful and we will definitely be having another one next year. We would like to thank: Big Sean, John Yame, Rollz, Brendan, Paul Shen, Robert Aldrich, Koaltahk, Richie Bishop, Matt Pendleton, Jared Jones, Matt Eddleman, Ryan Z, Jay Wagner, Patrick Bannister, any other staff we forgot, all of our great sponsors, and all of our attendees. If it weren't for all of you, none of this would have been possible. Also, I would like to remind everyone that we are still hosting a photography contest. Just e-mail your videos and pictures to FusionGCMedia@yahoo.com. Whoever has the most complete/awesome set of pictures and videos will win a wireless PS2 controller and will be deemed awesome from now on! Also, don't forget to check out Robert Aldrich's website and pick up his book, "Crossworld" in bookstores everywhere! If you won a stick, controller, shirt, or anything else, PLEASE e-mail the company that made it (they can be found on the sponsors page) and give them feedback or even buy more stuff from them! Thanks again for everyone that made this year possible and stay tuned to the website for updates!!!
May 18, 2005FusionGC is only a few days away! A quick notice, if you are planning on pre-registering get your money in by midnight on thursday. Any money that we receive after midnight on thursday will be returned (minus paypal fees) and your pre-registration will not be counted. Thanks and get ready for FusionGC!!
May 14, 2005FusionGC is only 1 week away! A few last minute announcements! If you have not pre-registered and plan to attend the LAN room, then you NEED to do so right away! Spots are filling up QUICKLY. Secondly, we are having a photography contest at Fusion. We want to urge people to take lots of photos and videos at the convention so that we can get many perspectives on the convention that we otherwise would not have had. So, whoever sends us the best collection of pictures and videos on a disc after the convention will get a prize that is TBA. Also, if you want to have theme music played as you enter the room (like a wrestler) during the semi finals-finals of a tournament, please bring a CD with the song on it, because we will have a stereo set up to play it.
May 7, 2005Fusion is only 2 weeks away!!! We're excited to see how many people turn up at our BIG event. Here's some updated info:
April 24, 2005I know we haven't talked about it much, but Fusion is going to be having an auction for anything and everything that you guys plan to bring. Here's the details:FusionGC will be holding an auction on Sunday the 22nd around 2:00PM. Feel free to bring video games, systems, accesories, music, or anything else that you'd like to bring and we'll help you auction it off.
April 19, 2005With the realease of Halo 2's new update, we will now be using version 1.1 for the tournaments. We've got about one month left until Fusion hits so all of you Halo players out there have enough time to get acquainted with the update. Click here for Bungie's official list of changes.
April 5, 2005We have updated the Game Room and Lan Room pages with some more info. Also, We have aquired a Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition Arcade machine. We'll have it set on Free Play the entire weekend! We're also trying to get a few more Arcade fighting machines and possibly a DDR machine. On a different note, Star City LAN will be having their LAN on the 16th of April. At least check out the site (currently undergoing some changes) at www.starcitylan.com. Our schedule will be posted very soon.
March 22, 2005We have finally gotten a final date. Start asking off of work because on May 20-22nd, Fusion GC is going to take over Roanoke. We apologize to all who have already pre-registered. At this point, we recommend that you e-mail us to let us know if you can make it on the new date. If you would like a refund on your pre-registration, that can be arranged as well.
March 13, 2005Yes, we are still alive. We greatly apologize for the downtime. As you can see, we have decided to change our name due to confusion. We have decided to call ourselves Fusion Gaming Convention, or Fusion GC. The countdown to FGC has begun.February 14, 2005As you may notice, the site has been constantly changing for the past month, as the rules and hotel information are up. Also, we are going to be at Katsucon February 18-20, and SheVaCon February 25th-27th. We will also be in Lynchburg at the River Ridge Mall on March 6th for the big Tekken 5 tournament. The new flyer is up on the "Help Us" page as well. We've finally got the pre-registration account up. The registration fee is $15. Check the registration page for more info. I would recommend that the people bringing their PCs preregister, because space for PCs is limited. We will have an address to send preregistration to up very soon as well. See you on the forums!November 30, 04Just a quick update on what's been going on! We just got back from the MAGFest meeting, and things seem to be going well for them. They are moving the con to a new location that's 2 hours away instead of 6. We were planning on running another little tourney at Valley View Mall, that may or may not still happen. We are still thinking about having one more little shindig before the big one that we're planning for next year. During Xmas break we are going to be having a few meetings to figure some vital things out, I shall have another update for you not too long from now. Megacon 2005! Yeah!
October 26, 04Well, it's finally over! Everything went very well, and overall it was very successful. I'd like to thank Richie Bishop, John Yamine, Yared Yones, Paul Shen, and everyone else who gave us a hand with HALO; Including everyone who brought TVs, Xboxes, ect. We have a few announcements coming up soon, so stay tuned!
Rocktober 17, 04Uh oh! 6 days until the tournament! Here's a basic rundown of what we would like people to bring: TVs, Xboxes, Halo, and controllers. We ask that everyone playing in the tournament bring AT LEAST 1 controller for themselves, because we want to be 100% SURE that everyone gets to play. Anything else would be appreciated as well. If you can't transport a TV, you can have Shan and I come by your house and pick it up! See, win a free visit from Shan and I at your house if you let us use a TV! Anyway, if you're going to let us borrow anything, please e-mail me at dreamwithoutwings@yahoo.com! Oh yes, and just to clear things up, it's $10 per person per tournament entry! We start singles around 1, but will be there at 12. See you in 6 days!
October 5, 2004Wow! MAGFest was a BLAST! The whole Megacon crew was there. I highly recommend checking it out and attending next year! There is one very good thing that might push you to go to MAGFest next year; The Megacon staff will be running the gameroom!!! Anyway, the rules are up (FINALLY!) on the rules page, the schedule has been updated (kind of), and the DIRECTIONS ARE UP on the "Basic Info" page! Everything is finally coming together! Be aware that we could still use a few more TVs (good or bad)! If you've got something real nice you're willing to bring, (or we can come and get it) we'll use it for the tournament, if you have a small TV, we may still be able to use it to set games up just for something for the people who aren't playing to do. Feel free to bring a system, game, and TV if you want to set up something specific. And we will have a copy of smash and 4 controllers! Stop asking me! That about covers everything, see you at the Touranment!PS - Join the forums!
September 24, 2004Horray! We've finally figured out a date for our Halo themed mini-con! October 23rd is our FINAL date! More info to come within the next few days, including the time, rules, and game types. In the meantime, sign up on the forums and argue about Halo. We'll have games up to play in addition to Halo, as well as plenty of Halo going down. More info to come.
August 31, 2004If you'll direct your attention to the left side of your screen, you'll notice that we now have forums! Sweet! Feel free to sign up and start posting. Now you can finally quit flooding our guest book with topics about who's better at Halo. As for Megacon, it looks like we may finally have something going, along the lines of a location & date. Hopefully within the next few months we'll be running a big day long Halo tournament. MAGfest is coming up at the begining of october. We encourage everyone to attend because it's going to be insane. Well, stay tuned for more updates, and don't forget to sign up for the message board!
August something, 2004Wow! An update! We have been searching the Roanoke Valley for a new location and have mostly come up with nothing. We've had some dealings with Tanglewood that didn't go so well...eh. Please e-mail us (address is on the staff page) if you have any clue as to where we could hold it. Onto the good news: I finally put the banner up! Thanks Richie! Also...a Megacon fund raiser is in the works. As in, a one-day-long Halo tournament! We will probably have a few drinks and snacks for sale as well as a few TVs and games set up for those who aren't playing. It will basically be a very small Megacon focused exclusivley on Halo! It should be a lot of fun. We're going to have to get our school schedules straightened out before any official dates come up for anything! But don't worry, we're working on it! Expect an update after I get back from vacation the friday after next. I'm sure we will be talking about it while we're out of town, so we should have something cooked up! Thanks for bearing with us during these past few months...till next time!
July 7, 2004Wow, looks like we have some new sponsors. Visa, Nzxt cases, Razer Mice, and The Gaming Project. You should check them out. Also, some new tournaments are being considered, including Gran Tourismo, Tekken and Karaoke Revolution. Please E-mail me with your feedback as to which version of Tekken and Gran Tourismo you think we should use if we were to have the tournament. In addition, I am currently looking for prizes to give away at megacon. Hopefully little bonuses for runners up in tournaments, or things to be raffled or randomly given away. Send me an E-mail and tell me some of the things you would like to see given away as prizes.June 29, 2004Well, the new site is finally up! As for the most recent news...A new HALO tournament AND a Mario Kart: Double Dash tournament have been added!! The HALO tournament will be a 2 on 2 Team Slayer tournament, but we're not down to the details on Double Dash yet. E-mail me or one of the other guys with suggestions about how the Double Dash tourney should run. Also, we feel that we may be close to a final descision on location, we just have a few more things to get worked out and a few meetings to go to before we'll know for sure. |
